During the 9th Annual Chicago Fashion Show (a benefit for Live Out Loud Charity) held at the gorgeous Palmer House in downtown Chicago, there was a whimsical, dreamy designer that left the crowd curious and inspired. Her use of soft fabrics, feminine flair, and zest for life was felt in every piece she created. Which designer is this you ask? None other than MoonBabe. The brains behind the designs, creator Sydney Champeau. Let’s get to know her.
An interview with the Miss Sydney Champeau.
Q: What inspired you to become a designer and to create the types of pieces you do?
A: I was always a fashion Designer, for as long as I can remember anyway. At age 5 or even younger, I was sketching my own designs and asking my mom to help me sew them. They were usually costumes of characters I wanted to pretend to be. The garments I create usually start as a scrap of fabric, a hand me down, or a thrift store find. The universe brings fabric to me like a magnet, and inspiration for each garment comes just as naturally. Often, it will take a year or more to slowly accumulate all the textiles necessary to complete a MoonBabe garment.
Q: How can models and fashion admirers find out more about your collections and shows?
A: Contact through Facebook Sydney Champeau, instagram @moonbabe_fashion, website coming soon Moonbabefashionplanet.com
Q: What shows/productions have you showcased in our publications are you most proud of being featured in?
A: MoonBabe has showcased at Milwaukee Fashion Week 2018, Unter Diskothek 2018, Live Out Loud Charity’s 9th Annual Chicago Fashion Show. I’ve never been in any publications for fashion design until recently my collection appeared in, “I Live in a Magazine”, which covered the LOLC Show at the Palmer in December of 2018. MoonBabe has also shown at The Kress Pavilion in Egg Harbor door County for a women’s empowerment show in February of 2019.
Q: Why did you choose to showcase in the Live Out Loud Charity, 9th Annual Chicago Fashion Show held at the Palmer House?
A: I received an invitation to show at the 9th Annual LOLC Chicago Show by Sherrie back in October of 2018, I said yes instantly. The mission of the charity really hit home for me.
